Hygiene and hand disinfection

In the current pandemic, hand washing and disinfection are a major concern for users of public washrooms. Hygiene is paramount and touch-free solutions are highly sought after. Using conventional taps with manual contact, users can leave germs on the control. There is no point washing your hands if you then touch the control again to turn the tap off. Non-touch electronic taps and soap/gel dispensers, or even mechanical self-closing taps are designed to meet the highest standards in terms of hygiene.

Time flow taps shut off automatically a few seconds after they are activated - providing time to wet and rinse the hands - and electronic taps stop as soon as the hands leave the detection zone. No manual contact guarantees maximum hygiene.
The final and essential step in hand hygiene is drying which, if  done incorrectly, increases the risk of spreading bacteria, which is higher for damp skin than for dry skin. The preferred method is to use paper towels to dry your hands.

Now, more than ever, installing sanitary fittings that incorporate various functionalities in public and commercial places is essential.

Touch-free taps in Bokrijk

Touch-free taps in Bokrijk

Following the Bokrijk Province administration's decision to improve hygiene in public washrooms, as a response to the coronavirus crisis, switching to touch-free taps was the obvious choice.

All public washrooms were reviewed. A holistic approach was adopted: each toilet was equipped with a tap, soap dispenser, paper towel dispenser and a waste bin.
The children's drinking fountain in the playground was not forgotten. Initially fitted with a timed flow push-button valve, it was replaced by an electronic valve.

Patrick Derwael Plumbing from Herk-de-Stad were entrusted with the installation, being no strangers to this type of project. An independent business which uses partners for larger assignments.

Patrick Derwael chose DELABIE products. Already familiar with this manufacturer from previous projects, the experience was very good in terms of quality and service. "It was vital that the client experienced no problems," explained Patrick Derwael, "Because if the client has no problems, then neither do I. That is why I always choose products where I know that there will be no complications, both during installation and during later use."

In total, about 110 of DELABIE's TEMPOMATIC 4 electronic taps were installed. Almost 80 of these taps were deck-mounted versions and the rest were wall-mounted. A 100 soap dispensers were added - three-quarters of which were touch-free. These dispensers can be filled with liquid soap or hydroalcoholic gel for disinfecting hands.
